Graciela Iturbide: Cuando Habla la Luz

I visited a photographic exhibition “Graciela Iturbide: Cuando Habla la Luz”. It is in the “Antiguo Palacio de Iturbide”, but everyone calls it “Palacio de Cultura Citibanamex” on Madero street.

I saw the photos that Graciela took. She took photos around the world since 1971. The gallery has 270 photographs that were taken for approximately 47 years (from the 70’s to present).

I really love that exhibition because I think it was dark and critical. It has a lot of photographs that make us think about social problems and rethink them again. The different places that people believe are dangerous, but in reality, they are very special places with fantastic people.

Well, I love it, because Graciela decided to use her photos to represent several societies.

I really recommend it because Graciela Iturbide is one of the best Latin American photographers and I think she is the best in Mexico. If you have the opportunity to go and see her photos, won’t regret it. The exhibition is free and it will be open until April 12.

When I went to it, I’d like have gone with guided visit, but in the moment, I didn’t do it because, it was too late and the gallery would close in 50 minutes. Well, I saw whole gallery, but I didn’t have the opportunity to booked a guided visit.

If I had arrived early, I would have booked that guided visit.

My Dream House.

Hello, today I’ll talk about my dream house.

I have a dream house. It’d is in a rural area in a wonderful forest ―I don’t know what it would be (may be in a forest in Mexico or Germany)―.

This house could be made of wood with natural stone ornaments. It could have two floors and basement. On the top floor would have a luxurious balcony and large windows, so that on the balcony would have the opportunity to expect an incredible view of the mornings and the sunsets in the afternoons.

It’d have a kitchen, two bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms, a living room, a dining room, living room, library, theater room and may be a pool.

So I really hope that someday I could have this dream house to enjoy.

Shame (2011)

Film Review.

Shame was directed by Steve McQueen. It stars Michael Fassbender as Brandon and Carey Mulligan as his sister, Sissy. Fassbender was nominated for best actor in The Golden Globes.

It’s about Bandon, he is in his thirties and he has some problems in his sex life, because he isn’t able to have a serious relationship with anyone. One day, his sister Sissy arrives in his house and she moves in with him (they didn’t have communication between them).

Brandon loses control when his boss and Sissy were together one night (they have sex in Brandon’s bed).  During this time, Bandon tries a relationship with a workmate, Marianne, but he can’t keep the relationship.

After that, Bandon and Sissy argue and claim for the way to live their sex, love and family life. Both let see the worst part of themselves. Bandon Kicks her out his house and he goes to different places at night having discussions, fights and sex with strangers.

While this happens, Sissy fails to commit suicide, because Brandon finds her on the bathroom floor and he saves her life (Sissy tries it, because she fears being along).

In the end, Bandon reflection on his life and how he relates to others.

Well… I really recommend Shame. It has a very real thing: People don’t change, they only do it if they want it.

Other reason is its soundtrack.

The soundtrack was composed by Harry Scott. At the beginning of the film, the soundtrack gives weight to the first sequence that shows us the loneliness and tragedy of Bandon’s life.

The soundtrack includes Bach songs are performed by Glenn Gould, also includes Chet Baker, John Coltrane, Blondie and CHIC songs.

The soundtrack makes magical the film!
